IndiaTimes, a new player in Indian Gaming

In the last decade IndiaTimes have been one of the head honchos when it comes to media and getting hold of the public attention. So, it is no wonder that they have also dabbled in the gaming business as it is a booming one indeed and more so in India. Basically what happened is that opportunities came along the way for IndiaTimes to cash and rightfully so, they did make the most use of them. Be it, multimillion dollar deal for some gaming portal or investing in a joint venture for launching a game in this country, IndiaTimes has done it all to make sure they remain one of the top players of the Indian gaming industry. Let’s take a look at the projects and developments that are associated with IndiaTimes’ gaming contingent.

One of the biggest steps that IndiaTimes took was to seal a deal with Hovr, a mobile gaming company, and together they created a gaming portal named “GameZone” which contains a plethora of games that were free for the users provided they have a decent cell phone. Moreover, the number of games they are offering is huge and ranges from 93 in some phones to about 150 in others. They contain classic games like Solitaire and Mahjong and even new games right from the oven like cricket and KBC. dless to say these games have been a huge hit among mobile users and IndiaTimes reported that the mark crossed a hundred thousand in the first week itself!

But one major flaw with these games is that all of them are ad-supported and this ploy is basically to cover up for the expenses that are met by the company while the production phase and distribution phase of the games. And on top of that almost all the games are playable only in GPRS enabled phones and at many times it almost takes an hour for the games to load although ads pop up here and there at regular intervals. This can be a real buzz kill for the players.

IndiaTimes’ next venture was to make a deal with Level Up Network India, another gaming company, and co-produce and market Ragnarock, the Indian version of the World of Warcraft where people can actually live parallel lives and go out for adventures. Ragnarock satisfies the on going first person experience of the gamer but also makes us realize how wonderful it can be to meet new people each and every day and before you know it, both of you are completely engrossed in the game again. It is pure madness!

In the middle of all these, IndiaTimes are continuing their trend by supporting the game through thick and fast and makes all the players aware of any upcoming event in the Ragnarock world or in anyone associated with it, for that matter. So again, IndiaTimes took a huge step towards achieving a big spot in the gaming industry by snatching up the game in itself.

By being a part of all the latest trends that the Indian market is being showing towards gaming, IndiaTimes has certainly lived up to its billing and in the future shall go a long way to get the Indian Gaming Crown on its head.
